the ring is a film that is intended for a audience of 18 - 40 because at this age most people are going watching scary films and what they expect from the film. the gratification that the use is trying to scare the audience but due to the cultivation theory that we gradually become used to the horror of horror films so they have tried to change it up from normal horror films by making it more psychological than the normal horror films which makes it more targeted at people who will be able to get taken in by the film and have a in depth understanding of the film
